In December 1999 Zaha Hadid Architects won the international competition for a new ski jump on the Bergisel Mountain in Innsbruck. The new structure opened in 2002. Situated on the Bergisel Mountain overlooking downtown Innsbruck, the ski jump is a major landmark. It is part of a larger refurbishment project for the Olympic Arena and replaces the old ski jump, which no longer met with international standards.

The design for a canteen and student amenity center at Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad was initially envisaged as a students pavilion with facility exclusively for students. However, with the ensuing discussions the program changed incrementally, resulting in the project being transformed into a formal building. The transformation resulted in an edifice reflecting mixed characteristics, with various materials and forms brought together.

The Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) is an organization dedicated to the exhibition and collection of art, as well as the education of the public in the arts. Since it’s founding in 1914, the museum has always fostered exhibitions and programs that serve both the artist and lay communities. The organization acquired its current site in 1918, and over the years several additions were built to accommodate growing membership.

In the recent past, the need for easy-to-assemble buildings has come into existence with houses floating away in the wake of natural calamities, such as Hurricane Katrina. The concept for modular homes emerged from a collaboration between American bicycle advocate Jeff Selzer and Joseph Bellomo, who created Bike Arc bike racks: innovative, sustainable and sculptural systems for forward-thinking urban planning and architecture.

Summer of 2010 will see the inaugural celebrations at the magnificent Metropol Parasol, the redevelopment project of Plaza de la Encarnacíon in Seville, designed by J. MAYER H. The concrete work was finished in 2008. Though the parasols are under construction now, yet visiting the site at the moment gives an impressive and futuristic vision of the final dimensions and appearance. The project is going to become a new icon for Seville. Metropol Parasol will be identified as one of the Spain’s fascinating cultural and artistic destinations.

The historical city of Lyon developed right at the confluence of the rivers Rhône and Saône. The actual area between the two rivers flowing together was used as an industrial and harbour area.
After this use was given up the city of Lyon decided to place here a new science museum, forwhich they launched an international architectural competition. This competition was also won by a team of Coop Himmelb(l)au / Bollinger+Grohmann.

The first freestanding building for The Contemporary Arts Center, founded in Cincinnati in 1939 as one of the first institutions in the United States dedicated to the contemporary visual arts. The new CAC building will provide spaces for temporary exhibitions, site-specific installations, and performances, but not for a permanent collection. Other program elements include an education facility, offices, art preparation areas, a museum store, a cafe and public areas.

Sapporo dome,located 7.5km from the center of Sapporo City, the venue used for FIFA world cup™ matches, is situated on a hill, Hitsujigaoka, adjacent to downtown Sapporo. The Sapporo dome, on the island of Hokkaido, Japan is the city’s most futuristic stadium to date.

The Shrujan campus is situated in Bhujodi on the Anjar-Bhuj route, 10kms from the city of Bhuj in Kutch. The site is fairly obscured from the main road by an electrical sub-station. A small access road reveals a west entrance to the campus. The new building sits square on the footprint of the old which was 80’x80’ square single storey stone building with an enclosed green courtyard.
The program incorporates an expressive public face with its main retail store, visitor’s lounge, an exhibition gallery as well as internal workshop areas, textile design cell, offices, textile conservation cell, auditorium space and residential quarters.

Burnham Pavilion by Zaha Hadid Architects, as part of the Burnham Plan Centennial celebrations, triggers the visitors’ curiosity and encourages them to consider the future of Chicago. The design merges new formal concepts with the memory of Burnham’s bold, historic urban planning. Superimpositions of spatial structures with hidden traces of Burnham’s Plan are overlaid and inscribed within the structure, to create unexpected results. “The Burnham Plan Centennial is all about celebrating the bold plans and big dreams of Daniel Burnham’s visionary Plan of Chicago.
