Architects Talati & Panthaki Associates have designed a highly sustainable residential skyscraper, Palais Royale in Mumbai. The building promises to be equipped with all the eco-friendly elements that wins the building the LEED Platinum rating.
The city of Mumbai will have a 300 meter tall residential tower named, Palais Royale by architects Talati & Panthaki Associates at the old Shree Ram Mill in Worli. Palais Royale is India’s first Green residential building to have bagged the LEED Platinum rating by the Indian Green Building Council.
The luxury tower will consist of 145 apartments and 65 floors, which will be positioned around a 200 meter tall atrium in the center of the top 2/3rd of the tower. It will be the hugest atrium in the world after it’s complete.
A study was conducted during the planning process to study the impact of wind on the building and the effects of microwave radiation from an antenna close by. A lightweight liquid marble, Corian will be used to protect the building from acid rain, heat or sunlight.
The project focuses on saving thirty to forty percent on energy and twenty to thirty percent on water with its sustainable features like rain water harvest, 100% on-site sewage treatment, recycling wet garbage into organic manure, reutilizing waste and solar panels for heating water. All wastewater will be preserved with the help of membrane technology. The recycled water will be used for landscaping, washing cars, flushing, refrigeration and air-conditioners.
The building will have picture windows made of Low E glass to prevent heat without blocking the sunlight. Acoustic aspect of the construction is taken care of by cutting out undesired sounds.
When complete, the building will be the tallest residential tower in the country with eco-friendly features backing its designing and construction base.
