Oasis Designs Inc. (ODI) designed The Crossings Circle Roundabout as part of the larger landscape Masterplan for the 360-acre Crossings Republik Township project in Ghaziabad, National Capital Region of Delhi. While the aim of the overall landscape design programme was to create green public spaces for the residents within the township, The Crossings Circle was a point of particular interest. It occurs at a junction where four roads meet and therefore the designers chose to optimise on its prominence in the landscape by emphasising its location via several elements.

Beale Street is where the ‘Blues’ style of music was invented and it has housed some of the world's most pioneering Blues musicians. The competition programme called for the design of five acres, waterfront public space celebrating Beale Street's termination at the Mississippi River.

The creation of smaller private spaces within the larger garden help scale down the overall impact

This project that is focussed around a central park in Western Beijing, moves away from the diktats of traditional Chinese landscaping, wherein the gardens are secluded, growing behind imperial walls or private residences. While creating a contemporary idiom for the landscaping, it strongly retains one aspect of that tradition – the architecture and the landscape should be woven together to create a coherent whole.

SWA’s belief that the landscape should be viewed as an indispensable part of the architecture, and not as a separate entity, is nowhere more obvious than at the California Academy of Sciences, designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop. It is perhaps fitting that a building that houses one of the world’s leading green roof research facilities is itself the biggest endorsement for it – the 2.5-acre roof is living and green.
