Heatherwick Studio was commissioned to design a café building to replace a seafront kiosk in Littlehampton, a traditional seaside town on England's south coast. It was a challenge for the studio, as they had to construct a long, thin building without flat, two dimensional façades. The building is sliced diagonally into ribbons, which wrap up and over the building forming a layered protective shell, open to the sea in front.

What would a tea connoisseur want other than a steaming cup of perfectly brewed ‘chai’? Probably nothing, till he steps into ‘Varietea’- the premium tea bar and boutique.

Located in the prized Alkapuri area of Baroda, it is a 735 sqft cafeteria designed by ‘Studio 11 Architects’ collaborative’. And just like the beverage that it is tailor-made for, the design too attempts to pull at all your senses.

The dictum of the look came from its splendid location overlooking the Qutab Golf Course and from the fact that it had to be time-driven. The dictum could have also adopted from previous imageries and clichéd notions.

Architect Ricardo Bofill of Spain-based architecture firm Taller de Arquitectura has created a landmark hotel, Hotel Vela also known as the W Barcelona, enveloped in an ambitious urban renewal waterfront planned district of luxury retails, theatres and nightclubs. Located on the Nova Bocana of the Port of Barcelona, its commanding presence defines the gateway from the city’s historic centre to the Mediterranean. W Barcelona is near the world famous boardwalk La Barceloneta and Barcelona’s Old Town and Las Ramblas.

Hotel Treetops, a retreat outside Jim Corbett National Park is designed in 2005. A six-acre mango orchard along the Ramganga River outside Corbett Park is the setting for the retreat. The 34,000sqft retreat is planned as a getaway from bustling Delhi. Its easy accessibility combined with the shadowed mango groves provides an ambience of quiet rejuvenation.
