Experiencing visually the art of cooking and further enjoying the meal is the experience one can look for in the Bei- Asian restaurant in Beijing.

The restaurant named Bei – meaning north is a northern Asian cuisine speciality restaurant where the architects have conceptualised the restaurant on forest with a sense of enclosure within to create a screen between the passing by visitors and the people dining in with a bar spanning across as the central and the main feature of the restaurant.

The dining interior of the restaurant creates a sense of tranquillity with the ambience the designers have created by the use of colour scheme, finishes and the lighting qualities. The sense of enclosure is achieved by dark stained wood around the main dining area with bird light dance from the ceiling. The lighting qualities of the space create numerous contrasts in the moods.

In spite of all the interior features, the central focus of the restaurant is raw bar running across the restaurant. From here one can experience the art of cuisine. This bar is constructed in concrete with a purple colour wall behind creating a focal point. This concrete constructed bar creates a sense of drama and theatre within which creates a sense of dynamism within. The complete restaurant focuses on this concrete bar and also compresses the death of the same artistically.

Raw oak-wood creating a screen between inside and outside giving touch and feel to the concept of forest as created by the architects.

With regards to the materials, the interiors are finished with raw oak-wood to continue with the forest theme, however with a complete contrast with the other materials used. The heighted windows showcases the urban scenes painted behind the glass panels creating a sense of depth.

The complete restaurant is an experience from the art of cuisine to relish the exotic food of north China, with porosity of varied materials ranging from concrete constructed bar to oak-wood finishes to vibrant colours like purple.
