A-cero architects have recently completed a bold one-storey residential abode on the outskirts of Madrid. At 1,600sqm on a 5,000sqm plot, the build is designed as a ‘big single-family’ dwelling with an eco-friendly approach. Spaces between the slanted concrete wall sections are optimised as individual vegetable ramps which extend up to the roof upon which are installed solar tubular collectors to harness the full power of the Spanish sun in a renewable energy system.

The rear of the house is completely opened towards the garden, providing the lounge, the dining room, the library, the study room and the bedrooms with scenic views across the garden and the lake. Wide-set windows have been installed here to enhance these scenes. Internally, the house has been fitted with edgy yet elegant furniture, fixtures and features to ensure that the interior space matches the exterior in terms of aesthetic pleasure.
