The process of achieving a sustainable built environment is very complex in nature. There are host of stakeholders with diagonally opposite interests. For a workable solution which may actually be implemented, all these aspects have to understood in detail. We are inviting specialists and other persons from various sections of society to become aware of their concerns and varied opinions on the problem. We have enlisted people who would be instrumental in bringing about radical changes in terms of decision making and implementation of steps to be taken in this direction.

Spanish architecture firm A-cero complete striking single-storey private house

A-cero architects have recently completed a bold one-storey residential abode on the outskirts of Madrid. At 1,600sqm on a 5,000sqm plot, the build is designed as a ‘big single-family’ dwelling with an eco-friendly approach. Spaces between the slanted concrete wall sections are optimised as individual vegetable ramps which extend up to the roof upon which are installed solar tubular collectors to harness the full power of the Spanish sun in a renewable energy system. The rear of the house is completely opened towards the garden, providing the lounge, the dining room, the library, the study room and the bedrooms with scenic views across the garden and the lake. Wide-set windows have been installed here to enhance these scenes. Internally, the house has been fitted with edgy yet elegant furniture, fixtures and features to ensure that the interior space matches the exterior in terms of aesthetic pleasure.
