Simon leads a team of architects at Allford Hall Monaghan Morris working on numerous large-scale projects including masterplanning, offices, housing, arts and educational buildings predominantly in England but also in Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East.
AHMM has won numerous awards, for buildings and masterplans that encompass public and commercial programmes. Over the last eighteen years the office has grown from four to 120 people with budgets ranging from one million to over one billion pounds. Simon is Vice President for Education at the RIBA and Chairman of the President’s Medal having previously served on Competitions and Policy and Strategy groups. Having taught for fifteen years at The Bartlett, Simon is now Visiting Professor at UCL. Simon remains directly involved in education as a visiting critic and external examiner at many schools and maintains close links with the Architectural Association. Simon is also a vice chair of CABE’s Design Review Committee. Simon has chaired and judged numerous international competitions and is a contributor to TV and radio discussing his work of the practice and architecture in general. From January 2004 to June 2005 he had a weekly column in the Architects Journal.
