In 1979 Parul Zaveri and Nimish Patel set up the office Abhikram. The office realises projects for interior purposes and is involved in the revitalisation of historical quarters and in the modification of historic buildings as well. In 1978 after her diploma in architecture at the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad, Parul Zaveri attended courses in urban development at the MIT, Cambridge, USA. Further on she gathered experiences in the usage of alternative technologies and solar energy at Paolo Soleri, Acrosanti & Cosanti Foundations, Arizona, USA. First of all Nimish Patel studied at the CEPT and later at the MIT where he focused his studies on developing countries by a postgraduate course in urbanism. The office was awarded both for structural and for restoration projects. Among others they won the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Award.h
